By Coaches Jon Gottsegen and Tim Cornell

On Monday September 18th, the Boys varsity soccer team opened its season with a 2-0 loss to the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry. The game was very physical from the beginning as each team looked for an advantage. Masters scored its first goal in the 30th minute. Senior goalie Erik Gins was able to stop everything else that came in front of him until the 85th minute, when Masters scored on a breakaway to put the game out of reach. While the game was a loss, this was the team’s best performance against Masters in recent years, and was a true team effort. Everyone played several different positions during the game, and played well together. This should bode well for the upcoming season.

The defense played very well against a very strong squad from Chase, and senior goalkeeper Erik Gins had 10 saves on the day.
