Girl’s Varsity Soccer - Harvey 3 KLHT 2
On November 2, the Lady Cavaliers improved to 9-0-2 by defeating host KLHT 3-2 in a tense, exciting, and well-played game.
KLHT scored the only goal of the first half, on a through ball with 10 minutes left. After regrouping at the half-time break, the girls went on a tear, scoring 3 goals in 10 minutes. The first goal was a beautiful combination from Madison Haller to Nicolette St. Lawrence back to Madison and over to Dana Lombardi, who had an open net. 2 minutes later, Dana pushed the ball down left wing, and then crossed the gall at the 6-yard line to Madison, who drilled a one-timer into the back of the net. With 29 minutes remaining in the game, Nicolette took a pass from Madison down the right wing, deked the wing defender, outraced the Vikings’ sweeper, and chipped in a high shot. The game wasn’t over; however KLHT scored on a corner kick with 24 minutes remaining, then brought everyone forward to generate as much offensive pressure as possible. Keeper Clara Lefton (18 saves) and the defense did not yield, turning away shot after shot in the final minutes. Clara and Madison were named players of the games.
