As a teacher, Alan uses humor and wit to inspire his audiences to incorporate technology into the learning process. His areas of expertise include information and communication technology, planning across the curriculum, staff development, long-range planning, building learning communities and leadership development. He is a self-professed teacher, consultant, author, practitioner and designer.
Alan November will speak to the students during the day on October 22nd, and The Harvey School faculty during the afternoon. The parent portion of the program will be held at 7pm in the evening, in the Study Hall. This portion of the program will educate parents on the role technology plays in the lives of middle and upper school students. Parents will learn exciting and innovative new trends in information and communication technology and develop an understanding of these discoveries so that they may better understand how to support their children’s use of the Internet. Alan November will address specific issues of current concern including the use of Facebook and My Space and will help parents formulate appropriate boundaries for accessing and utilizing these sites. Ultimately, the goal will be to help us to become savvy, astute parents of technologically bright children. The evening program is open to the community at large, so bring a friend!
